How to use a fruit sugar meter
The commonly used instrument in fruit sugar meters is a hand-held refractometer, also known as a sugar mirror and a hand-held sugar meter. By measuring the soluble solid content (sugar content) of fruits and vegetables, the quality of fruits and vegetables can be understood and the maturity of the fruits can be roughly estimated.
Purpose and principle: Use a handheld refractometer to measure the total soluble solid content in fruits and vegetables, which can roughly indicate the sugar content of fruits and vegetables. When light enters another medium from one medium, refraction occurs, and the ratio of the sine of the incident angle is constant. This ratio is called the refractive index. The soluble solid content in fruit and vegetable juices is directly proportional to the refractive index under certain conditions (same temperature and pressure). Therefore, by measuring the refractive index of fruit and vegetable juices, the concentration (sugar content) of fruit and vegetable juices can be found.
Medicines and equipment needed for the experiment:
1. Fruit samples
2. Distilled water
3. Beaker, dropper, rolling paper, handheld fruit sugar meter
Steps:
1. Open the cover of the handheld fruit sugar meter and carefully dry the prism glass surface with clean gauze or roll paper. Drop 2 drops of distilled water on the prism glass surface and cover it with a cover.
2. In a horizontal state, observe from the eye socket and check whether the intersection line between light and dark in the field of vision is on the zero line of the scale. If it does not coincide with the zero line, turn the scale adjustment screw so that the dividing line just falls on the zero line.
3. Open the cover, wipe the water dry with gauze or rolling paper, and then drop 2 drops of fruit and vegetable juice on the prism glass surface as above, observe, and read the scale on the boundary between light and dark in the field of view, which is the soluble content of the fruit and vegetable juice. Solid content (%) (approximate sugar content). repeat three times.
The following matters should be paid attention to when using and maintaining the fruit sugar meter:
1. You must be careful during use and use it strictly according to the instructions. Do not loosen the connecting parts of the instrument at will. Do not drop or collide. Violent vibration is strictly prohibited.
2. After use, it is strictly forbidden to put it directly into water for cleaning. It should be wiped with a clean soft cloth. The optical surface should not be bumped or scratched.
3. The instrument should be stored in a dry place without corrosive gas.
4. Avoid the loss of spare parts.
