Working principle and use of handheld sugar meter

1. Working principle of handheld sugar meter: When light enters from one medium to another medium, refraction occurs, and the ratio of the sine of the incident angle is constant. This ratio is called the refractive index. The soluble solid content in fruit and vegetable juices is proportional to the refractive index under certain conditions (same temperature and pressure). The refractive index of fruit and vegetable juices can be measured, and the concentration of fruit and vegetable juices (sugar content) can be found. Commonly used instruments include handheld refractometers, also called fruit sugar meters, digital refractometers, digital sugar meters, digital concentration meters, digital refractometers, digital refractometers, digital refractometers, digital sugar meters, and concentration meters. By measuring the soluble solid content (sugar content) of fruits and vegetables, you can understand the quality of fruits and vegetables and roughly estimate the maturity of the fruits. Handheld sugar meters are generally cylindrical in shape.

2. Handheld sugar meter instrument structure: ①Refractive prism ②Cover plate ③Calibration bolt ④Optical system pipeline ⑤Eyepiece (dimension adjustment ring)

3. How to use the handheld sugar meter: Open the cover and carefully wipe the detection prism with a soft cloth. Take a few drops of the solution to be tested, place it on the detection prism, and gently close the cover to avoid bubbles and allow the solution to spread on the surface of the prism. Aim the light entrance plate of the instrument at the light source or bright place, observe the field of view through the eyepiece, and turn the eyepiece adjustment handwheel to make the blue-white dividing line of the field of view clear. The scale value of the dividing line is the concentration of the solution.

Classification of sugar meters
Non-destructive sugar meter: There is no need to cut the fruit, and the probe is directly contacted to the surface of the fruit to be measured to measure the sweetness of the fruit.

Portable sugar content measurement: Before picking fruits, measure the sweetness of fruits to ensure uniformity of sweetness and improve crop production management goals.

Computer sugar content tester: Each fruit has been tested for sweetness, and based on quality inspection, grading, processing and packaging operations, it can increase the price.
