How to Use a Microscope in Five Simple Steps

 

1. Set up the microscope: Holding the mirror arm and base with your right and left hands, respectively, place the microscope on the lab table with the eyepiece and objective lens positioned 7 cm apart from the edge.

1. Rotate the converter so that the low-magnification objective lens is lined up with the light hole. Maintain a 2 cm gap between the stage and the objective lens' front end.

 

2. Align the aperture with a larger one. Open your right eye, fix your gaze on the eyepiece with your left, then rotate the reflector so that light enters the lens barrel through the light hole. till a clearer image may be seen.


3. Insert slices.


1. Position the slide specimen for observation on the stage and secure it with a pressure clamp. The specimen should face the light hole's center.


Four. Observation


1. To avoid the objective lens hitting the slide specimen, slowly lower the lens barrel by rotating the coarse and accurate focus screw while keeping an eye on it from the side.

 

2. Use your left eye to look through the eyepiece while simultaneously rotating the coarse focus screw in the other direction to slowly raise the lens barrel until it is level with the item being seen. To make the image of the object sharper, turn the fine focus screw only a little bit.


Finally, shut the mirror.

2. Lower the lens barrel, approach the stage, and turn the converter to position the low magnification objective lens or the area without an objective lens with the light hole.


3. Place the mirror upright.
