How to use and take precautions with the Multimeter Resistance File

Resistance Measurement Precautions
(1) If the measured resistance value exceeds the maximum value of the selected range, the display will show the over-range "1", you should select a higher range, for resistors greater than 1 MΩ or higher, it takes a few seconds for the reading to stabilise, it is normal for high resistance readings.

(2) When there is no input, such as open circuit, the display is "1".

(3) When checking the internal line impedance, make sure all power supplies of the measured line are disconnected and all capacitors are discharged.

(4)There are about four words for 200MΩ short circuit, which should be subtracted from the reading when measuring, such as when measuring l00MΩ resistance, the display is 101.0, the fourth word should be subtracted.

(5) available resistance file rough detection of capacitance is good or bad, with a red pen connected to the positive terminal of the capacitor, the black pen connected to the negative terminal of the capacitor, the multimeter reference power supply will be through the reference resistor on the capacitor charging, when normal, the multimeter shows the charging voltage will be a low value from a gradual increase until the display overflow. If the charging starts to show overflow "1", the capacitor is open circuit; if it is always shown as a fixed resistance or "000", it means that the capacitor is leaking or short-circuited.

(6) check the circuit on and off, the function switch should be dialled to the " " file, and do not use the resistance file. Measurement as long as you do not hear a beep, you can judge the circuit is not connected.

(7)When measuring small resistance, you should first short-circuit the two pens and read the self resistance of the pen connection (generally 0. 2 ~ 0. 3 ohms) to make corrections to the measured resistance.

(8) Resistance file has over-voltage protection function, instantaneous mismeasurement of the voltage within the specified range will not cause damage. For example, DT-830 digital multimeter resistance file maximum allowable input voltage (DC or AC peak) of 250 volts, which is the resistance file misuse of voltage measurement instrument security value, but not with electricity (such as batteries, human body, etc.) measuring resistance, which will lead to the multimeter resistance accuracy decline, or even damage.
