How to use infrared thermometer, precautions for using infrared thermometer

1. Grasp the handle of the thermometer with your right hand and press the switch with your index finger. You will hear the sound of "BI-BI", turn on the power, and the screen will display the temperature of the object you are facing. When measuring, pay attention to the distance coefficient K, KD of this machine: S12: When the measurement range is 12 meters away, the area of the object being measured is a circle with a diameter of 1 meter. If there is an object with a diameter of 1 meter at a distance greater than 12 meters, the measured temperature of the object will be inaccurate.

2. To measure an object, align the lens with the object being measured, press and hold the switch to perform the measurement. At this point, the SCAN symbol will appear on the upper left side of the screen, indicating that the measurement is in progress. Release the switch, and the HOLD symbol will appear on the upper left side of the screen, which displays the temperature of the object being measured.

3. When using this instrument in unclear or dark environments, first release the power switch button, and then press the laser/backlight button. This will display the laser/backlight symbol on the screen. When the switch is pressed for measurement, a red dot will appear on the object being measured, indicating that temperature measurement is being performed in that area. When not in use, release the power button and press the laser/backlight button again. Press once for no laser, press twice for no backlight, and press three times for no backlight and laser.

4. When testing a surface (such as a sealed one), the fixed-point method can be used, and each measurement must be recorded in a timely manner. The measurement data is automatically held for 7 seconds without any operation, and automatically shuts down after 30 seconds. The backlight will automatically turn off after a delay of ten seconds.

Precautions for using infrared thermometer
(1) Only measuring surface temperature, infrared thermometers cannot measure internal temperature.

(2) Wavelength above 5um cannot be measured through quartz glass due to its unique reflection and transmission characteristics, which do not allow for precise infrared temperature readings. However, temperature can be measured through an infrared window. It is best not to use infrared thermometers for temperature measurement on bright or polished metal surfaces (such as stainless steel, aluminum, etc.).

(3) To locate hotspots, the instrument aims at the target and then performs up and down scanning movements on the target until the hotspot is determined.

(4) Pay attention to environmental conditions such as steam, dust, smoke, etc., which obstruct the optical system of the instrument and affect accurate temperature measurement.

(5) Environmental temperature: If the thermometer is suddenly exposed to an environmental temperature difference of 20 ℃ or higher, the instrument is allowed to adjust to the new environmental temperature within 20 minutes.
