How to use soldering iron in PCBA welding circuit

Knowledge about the use of soldering irons in PCBA soldering circuits.

1. How to hold the soldering iron
There are three ways to hold a soldering iron.

① The reverse grip method is to hold the handle of the soldering iron in the palm of your hand with your five fingers. This method is suitable for high-power electric soldering irons to weld parts to be welded that dissipate large amounts of heat.

②Forward grip method: This method is suitable for larger electric soldering irons, and is also generally used for curved soldering iron heads.

③Hold the pen method: Hold the soldering iron like a pen. This method is suitable for low-power soldering irons and welding parts with low heat dissipation, such as welding printed circuit boards of radios and televisions and their maintenance.

2. Treatment before using the soldering iron
Turn on the power to "tin" the soldering iron tip before use. First, use a file to roll the soldering iron tip into a certain shape, and then connect it to the power supply. When the temperature of the soldering iron tip rises to the point where it can melt tin, dip the soldering iron tip in rosin. After the rosin smokes, apply a layer of solder. Repeat this two to three times until the blade surface of the soldering iron tip is completely covered with a layer of tin and it is ready for use. The electric soldering iron should not be energized for a long time without being used. This will easily cause the soldering iron core to accelerate oxidation and burn out, shortening its life. At the same time, the soldering iron tip will be oxidized due to long-term heating, and may even be "burned to death" and no longer "eat tin". .

3. Precautions for using soldering iron
① Choose different types of soldering irons appropriately according to the welding object.

②Do not hit the soldering iron tip arbitrarily during use to avoid damage. The wall thickness of the steel pipe of the connecting rod of the internal heating soldering iron is only 0.2mm, so it cannot be clamped with pliers to avoid damage. It should be maintained regularly during use to ensure that the soldering iron tip is covered with a thin layer of tin.

4. There are two ways to hold the solder wire, one is to hold the solder wire during continuous soldering and the other is to hold the solder wire during intermittent soldering. Since lead accounts for a certain proportion in the composition of the soldering wire, it is well known that lead is a heavy metal harmful to the human body. , so you should wear gloves when operating or wash your hands after handling to avoid ingestion. After using the soldering iron, be sure to place it securely on the soldering iron stand, and be careful that wires and other debris do not touch the soldering iron tip to avoid burning the wires and causing accidents such as electric leakage.
