Introduction to the use and fault analysis of sound level meters

How to use a sound level meter
Whether the sound level meter is used correctly or not, it directly affects the accuracy of the measurement results. Therefore, it is necessary to introduce the use of sound level meter.

1.Precautions
Before using, you should read the instruction manual first to know how to use the instrument and precautions.

Pay attention to the polarity of the battery or external power supply, do not reverse the connection. Remove the battery when not in use for a long time to avoid liquid leakage and damage to the instrument.

Do not disassemble the microphone to prevent it from being thrown or dropped, and place it properly when not in use.

The instrument should be avoided to be placed in high temperature, humidity, sewage, dust and air or chemical gases with high content of hydrochloric acid and alkali.

Do not disassemble the instrument without permission. If the instrument is not normal, it can be sent to the repair unit or factory for overhaul.

2. Calibration of sensitivity
In order to ensure the accuracy of the measurement, calibration should be carried out before and after use.

Match the sound level calibrator with the microphone, turn on the calibration power, read the value, adjust the sensitivity potentiometer and finish the calibration.

3.Measuring method
When measuring, the instrument should choose the right gear according to the situation, hold both sides of the sound level meter with two hands flatly, and point the microphone to the sound source to be measured, or use the extension cable and extension pole to reduce the influence of the appearance of the sound level meter and the human body on the measurement. The position of microphone should be determined according to relevant regulations.

Analysis and repair of common faults of sound level meter
1. No display on the monitor
(1) The internal battery connection line is disconnected or the battery contact is not good: weld the connection line and replace the battery contact piece.

(2) The battery is damaged: replace the battery.

2. Measurement reading is obviously low or calibrated calibration is not 94.0dB
(1) Microphone sensitivity is too low or damaged: replace the microphone and recalibrate.

(2) The contact point of preamplifier is not in good contact with microphone: clean the contact point.

(3) The preamplifier plug is not in good contact with the socket of the main unit: replace the plug and socket.

3. High reading during low sound level measurement
