Introduction to the Working Principles of Gas Detectors

Combustible gas detector is one type of gas detector, but its working principle is somewhat different from gas detector. Before using the instrument, we should first understand its working principle so that we can better use it in future work. Below, we will introduce the working principle of a combustible gas detector.

Working principle of combustible gas detector

The principle of a catalytic combustible gas detector is to measure the resistance change generated by heating a refractory platinum wire to detect combustible gases. When combustible gases in the environment enter the detector, an oxidation reaction (flameless combustion) will occur on the surface of the platinum wire. The heat generated during this process will increase the temperature of the platinum wire, causing changes in its electrical resistivity. Therefore, when the combustible gas detector encounters high temperatures and other factors that cause changes in the temperature of the platinum wire during use, the electrical resistivity of the platinum wire will also change, and the measured data will also show certain differences.

The principle of a semi conductive combustible gas detector is to measure the concentration of combustible gases using changes in the resistance of the semiconductor surface. The semiconductor combustible gas detector uses highly sensitive gas sensitive semiconductor components. When it is in operation, if it encounters combustible gases, it will cause a decrease in the semiconductor resistance, which corresponds to the concentration of combustible gases.

The structure of the combustible gas detector mainly consists of two parts: detection and detection. The principle of the detection part structure is that the sensor uses detection elements, fixed resistors, and a zero potentiometer to form a detection bridge circuit. The bridge circuit uses platinum wire as the carrier catalytic element. After the instrument is started, the temperature of the platinum wire rises to the working temperature, and combustible gases in the air will naturally diffuse or otherwise reach the surface of the element.

Type of combustible gas detector

1. Portable combustible gas detector:

It generally uses natural diffusion to detect combustible gases, and the sensors used in the detector also have high sensitivity. In addition, most combustible gas detectors also adopt embedded microcontroller technology, making the instrument easy to operate and having multiple functions, which can also improve the work efficiency and accuracy of the detector to a certain extent.

2. Pump suction combustible gas detector:

Its detection principle is to use a built-in suction pump, which can quickly measure the concentration of combustible gases in the working environment. And the pump suction combustible gas detector uses catalytic combustion sensors, and also has real-time display of measurement data on the screen and accurate sound and light alarm prompts, providing protection for workers to successfully detect gas in unfavorable working environments while ensuring personal safety.

3. Online combustible gas detector:

The structure of an online combustible gas detector is composed of an alarm and a combustible gas detector. Generally, we place the gas detection alarm in the duty room, while the fixed combustible gas detector is installed in a location where gas leakage is prone. When the gas concentration exceeds the normal range, the instrument will automatically send an alarm signal and activate equipment such as electromagnetic valves and exhaust fans to automatically eliminate hidden dangers.
