Learn to use a multimeter to find faults without asking for help

 

To determine if the live and neutral wires are short circuited with a multimeter, we need to use the buzzer mode of the multimeter. In the event of a power outage, first place the red probe on the live wire and the black probe on the neutral wire. If there is a buzzer sound, it means that the wire is connected. If the live and neutral wires are connected, it means that the wire is short circuited. If the multimeter does not respond, it means that the wire is not short circuited. If the live and neutral wires are not connected, it means that the wire is not short circuited


Note: To check for a short circuit with a multimeter, first disconnect the power and disconnect the live and neutral wires from the load


Method for checking if the wire is broken with a multimeter
Wire break: refers to the situation where the wire is disconnected and there is a break in the middle of the wire, also known as an open circuit


A multimeter is used to determine if a wire is broken. The buzzer mode of the multimeter is also used, and red and black probes are placed on both ends of the wire. If there is a buzzer sound, it indicates that the wire is connected. If the multimeter does not respond, it indicates that the wire is broken


Note: Use a multimeter to determine if the wire is broken, and measure the broken point of the wire

Wire leakage: refers to the situation where the live wire is connected to the ground wire, or the neutral wire is connected to the ground wire, which we call leakage. Household appliance leakage: refers to the connection between the wires of household appliances and the metal casing of the appliances, which we call household appliance leakage

The methods for measuring short circuits, open circuits, and leakage with a multimeter are basically the same. They all use the buzzer mode of the multimeter to determine whether there is a short circuit, open circuit, or leakage by measuring the on-off method
