Leica microscope optical maintenance

It is a precision optical instrument, and the series of microscopes produced by Leica Microsystems, a German company with a history of over 150 years in microscope manufacturing, adopt multiple advanced technologies in the field of modern "optical, mechanical, and electrical" technology. Therefore, while using the microscope correctly, it is also very important to do a good job in daily maintenance and upkeep. Pay attention to the good maintenance and upkeep of the microscope, which can prolong its usage time and ensure that the microscope can always be in good working condition.
Maintaining the cleanliness of optical components is crucial for ensuring good optical performance. When the microscope is not in use, it should be covered with the dust cover provided by the instrument. If there is dust and dirt on the optical surface and instrument, the dust should be blown away with a balloon or the dirt should be removed with a soft brush before wiping the surface.

The optical surface should be cleaned with lint free cotton cloth, lens paper, or cotton swabs soaked in specialized lens cleaning solution. Avoid using too much solvent. Mirror wiping paper or cotton swabs should be moistened with the solvent appropriately, but do not let too much solvent penetrate into the objective lens, causing a decrease in clarity and damage to the objective lens.

The surface lens of the objective lens in a microscope is prone to dust, dirt, and oil contamination. When the contrast, clarity, and haze are found to decrease, it is necessary to carefully inspect the condition of the eyepiece and the front lens of the objective lens with a magnifying glass.

The low magnification objective has a relatively large front lens, which can be wiped with a cotton cloth or swab wrapped around the fingers and wiping paper dampened with ethanol. 40X and 100X need to be carefully checked with a magnifying glass. In order to achieve high flatness in high-power lenses, a front group lens with a small curvature radius concave surface is used. When wiping this group of lenses, a toothpick or cotton swab with a cotton ball is used for cleaning. Wipe the surface of the lens lightly. Do not apply excessive force or make any scraping movements, and make sure that the cotton swab touches the concave surface of the lens. After cleaning, use a magnifying glass to check for damage to the objective lens. If it is necessary to open the observation lens tube, be careful not to come into contact with the exposed lens under the tube. If there are finger marks on the surface of the lens, it will reduce the clarity of the image. Wipe it with a cleaning eyepiece.

When the 100X oil mirror of the microscope is used up, please wipe the surface of the oil mirror clean in a timely manner and check if the 40X objective lens is stained with oil. If so, please wipe it clean in a timely manner. Keep the microscope imaging clear at all times.
