Maintenance and upkeep of Abbe refractometer

1. Before and after using the Abbe refractometer and when replacing the sample, the working surface of the refracting prism system must be cleaned and wiped clean first.

2. The Abbe refractometer should be placed in a dry, ventilated, and temperature appropriate place to prevent the optical components of the instrument from getting damp and moldy.

3. The tested sample must not have any solid impurities. When testing solid samples, it is necessary to prevent the working surface of the refracting prism from roughening or generating indentations. This instrument strictly prohibits testing samples with strong corrosiveness.

4. Abbe refractometer should avoid strong vibration or impact to prevent optical components from shattering or loosening and affecting accuracy.

5. If the bulb in the spotlight lighting system is damaged, the spotlight tube can be removed along the axis, replaced with a new bulb, and the left and right positions of the bulb can be adjusted (loosen the adjacent set screws) to focus the light on the inlet surface of the refracting prism without causing significant deviation.

To prevent corrosive samples from damaging the surface of the Abbe refractometer's condenser, cover the condenser with a transparent plastic cover during use.

7. When the Abbe refractometer condenser is not in use, the instrument should be covered with a plastic cover or placed inside a box.

8. Users are not allowed to disassemble and assemble the Abbe refractometer condenser at will. If the condenser malfunctions or fails to meet the accuracy requirements, it should be promptly sent for repair.
