Metallographic microscope usage and precautions
How to use a metallographic microscope: The metallographic microscope is a precision optical instrument that requires care and caution when using it, and it must be operated in strict accordance with the operating procedures.
① Connect the light source plug of the metallographic microscope to the low-voltage (6V~8V) transformer and turn on the power supply.
② According to the magnification, select the required objective lens and eyepiece, install them on the objective lens holder and the eyepiece tube respectively, and rotate the objective lens converter to make the objective lens enter the light path and position it (you can feel the positioning of the locator).
③ Place the sample in the center of the sample stage with the observation surface facing down and press it with a spring.
④ Turn the coarse adjustment handwheel to first raise the lens barrel, and at the same time observe with your eyes to make the objective lens as close to the specimen surface as possible (but not allowed to collide with it), then turn the coarse adjustment handwheel in the opposite direction to gradually lower the lens barrel to adjust When the brightness of the field of view increases, use the fine-tuning handwheel to adjust the focal length until the object image is clearest.
⑤ Properly adjust the aperture diaphragm and field diaphragm to obtain the best quality object image.
⑥ If you use an oil immersion objective lens, you can drop some pine tar oil on the front lens of the objective lens, or drop the pine tar oil directly on the sample. After using the oil lens, wipe it clean immediately with cotton dipped in xylene solution, and then Dry with lens tissue.
Notes on metallographic microscopes:
① The operation should be careful and no rough or violent movements should be made. It is strictly forbidden to disassemble the microscope parts by yourself.
② The lens of the metallographic microscope and the surface of the sample cannot be touched directly with hands. If dust falls into the lens, gently wipe it with lens paper or a soft brush.
③ The lighting bulb of the microscope must be connected to a 6~8V transformer. Do not plug it directly into the 220V power supply to avoid burning the bulb.
④ When rotating the coarse adjustment and fine adjustment handwheels, move slowly. If you encounter a fault, report it immediately. Do not turn it forcefully to avoid damaging the machine parts.
