Method for detecting indoor hidden wire leakage current using a clamp ammeter

A clamp meter can detect the AC current flowing through a single wire, provided that the sensitivity of the meter meets the requirements for current size. Generally, the sensitivity of a clamp meter is not high, and if the leakage current is too small, the clamp meter cannot reflect it;

When measuring, because the measured wire must pass through the circular ring formed by the clamp, it must be measured in a place where the clamp can clamp the hidden wire (such as the junction box). However, when the clamp meter measures the leakage current, the leakage current has already triggered the leakage switch, and the circuit current has long been cut off, and there is no current on the line.

When there is no power on the circuit, use a megger to measure the insulation resistance of the wire to ground to determine whether there may be leakage.

Can a clamp ammeter be used to measure current and determine if there is a leakage in the wire? Or stealing electricity?

1. A clamp ammeter is a specialized tool for measuring AC current. Using a clamp ammeter to measure current cannot accurately distinguish theft behavior, as there are many and complex methods for stealing electricity.

2. Taking the case of stealing electricity by "bypassing" the metering meter (such as changing the transformer ※※) as an example, the three-phase current is not abnormal, only the metering data is low, and it cannot be measured using a clamp type ammeter. Comprehensive measures need to be taken to be effective.

3. The same applies to single-phase power supply lines, such as smart prepaid meters. Illegitimate individuals rely on changing the meter (reference element ※※) to slow it down, but it cannot be measured solely by clamp meters.

4. It is also difficult to measure leakage with a clamp meter because the leakage current is very small (if the current is large, it is not leakage, but a short circuit), and the measurement data is not referential.
