Night vision equipment and optoelectronic technology

Night vision equipment, also known as night vision glasses, night vision telescopes, and infrared telescopes, is an instrument used for observing in completely black or low light conditions at night, and was first applied in military applications. It is widely used in criminal investigation, security prevention, forest fire prevention, power and communication patrol, construction sites, breeding farms, farm care, and even tourism and other fields. After half a century of development, night vision devices can be roughly divided into several types:

1. Low light night vision technology, also known as image enhancement technology, is a photoelectric imaging technology that uses night vision mirrors with image enhancement tubes to enhance the target image under weak light irradiation for observation. Low light level night vision equipment is currently the most widely produced and widely used night vision equipment abroad, which can be divided into two types: direct observation and indirect observation.

2. Infrared night vision technology is divided into two types: active and passive. Active infrared night vision technology is a night vision technology that observes by actively illuminating and utilizing the infrared light reflected by the target's infrared source, and is equipped with an active infrared night vision instrument. Although active infrared night vision technology has the characteristics of clear imaging and simple production, it also has a fatal weakness: on the battlefield, the infrared light of the lamp will be detected by the enemy's infrared detection device. This weakness undoubtedly declares the fate of active infrared night vision technology being phased out. Passive infrared night vision technology is an infrared technology that utilizes the infrared radiation emitted by the target itself to achieve observation. Simply put, it imaging is based on different temperatures, with low resolution but special applications.

3. Some night vision devices have improved the semiconductor material of the photocathode, making it sensitive to both low light and infrared. The infrared night vision device and low light night vision device are unified on one instrument, and the low light night vision device functions on sunny nights, while the active infrared night vision device functions on rainy and foggy nights by emitting infrared radiation. Moreover, the operating distance is farther than that of a simple passive low light night vision device.
