Operating Procedures for Routine Maintenance, Upkeep and Precautions of Metallographic Microscopes

1, Microscope section

1. Remove the dust cover and turn on the power.

2. Place the sample on the stage pad and adjust the coarse/fine adjustment knob to focus until the observed image is clear.

3. Adjust the position of the stage, find the field of interest, and perform metallographic analysis.

Daily maintenance, upkeep, and precautions

To ensure the service life and reliability of the system, the metallographic analyzer should pay attention to the following matters:

1. The laboratory should have three protective conditions: earthquake resistance (away from the earthquake source), moisture resistance (using air conditioning and dryers), and dust prevention (covering the ground with flooring); Power supply: 220V ± 10%, 50HZ; temperature: 0 ° C-40 ° C.

2. When focusing, be careful not to let the objective lens touch the sample to avoid scratching the objective lens.

3. Do not switch the objective lens when the center of the circular hole on the stage pad is far away from the center of the objective lens, in order to avoid scratching the objective lens.

4. When adjusting brightness, it is important to avoid sudden changes in brightness or excessive brightness, as it can affect the lifespan of the light bulb and also damage vision.

5. All (function) switching should be done lightly and accurately.

When shutting down, adjust the brightness to * low.

7. Non professionals should not adjust the lighting system (filament position lamp) to avoid affecting the imaging quality.

8. When replacing halogen lamps, pay attention to high temperatures to avoid burns; Be careful not to directly touch the glass body of the halogen lamp with your hands.

9.When not in use, adjust the objective lens to the * low state through the focusing mechanism.

10. When not in use, do not immediately cover the dust cover. Wait for it to cool down before covering, and pay attention to fire prevention.

11. Place infrequently used optical components in a drying dish.

12. Non professionals should not attempt to wipe the objective lens and other optical components. The eyepiece can be wiped with a degreased cotton swab dipped in a 1:1 ratio (anhydrous alcohol) mixed liquid and shaken dry. Do not use other liquids to avoid damaging the eyepiece.

Computer and Image Analysis System

Metallographic analyzer is a device that adjusts the observation/photography switch knob on the metallographic microscope to the PHOT position. The information observed in the metallographic microscope is then converted to the video interface and camera. By opening the computer and starting the image analysis software, real-time images from the metallographic microscope can be observed. Once the desired field of view is found, it can be collected and processed. After the information is transmitted to the computer, the software controls whether it is automatically rated or assisted in rating.
