Partial structure and function of clamp ammeter

A clamp shaped meter is usually used as an AC ammeter, with a clamp shaped head on its head. When measuring current, the clamp shaped meter does not need to be connected to the circuit to be tested, and only needs to pass the power supply wire (only one) through the clamp to directly measure the current.

It is mainly composed of clamp head, clamp head trigger, hold button, function knob, LCD display screen, pen socket, and two red and black pens. The clamp head is used to clamp wires to measure current, and the red and black probes are mainly used to connect clamp shaped meters to measure resistance and voltage.

The clamp head is mainly used to clamp the measured wire when measuring AC current, and uses the principle of current transformer to induce wire current.

The tong head trigger is mainly used to open and close the tong head. When pressed, the tong head opens, and when released, the tong head closes.

The hold button is mainly used to hold the measured data when detecting electronic circuits, in order to facilitate reading and recording data.

The function knob is mainly designed for the multi-purpose feature of a clamp meter, and sets corresponding ranges for different detection settings.

The LCD display screen is mainly used to display detection data, data units, range selection, and other information.

The probe socket is mainly used to connect the lead plug of the probe and insulation testing accessories. Connect the red lead to the V Ω socket and the black lead to the ground terminal.

The clamp type AC current meter is essentially composed of a current transformer and a rectifier instrument. The measured current carrying wire is equivalent to the original winding of the current transformer, and on the iron core is the secondary winding of the current transformer, which is connected to the rectifier instrument. According to the proportional relationship between the primary and secondary windings of the current transformer, the rectifier instrument can display the current value of the measured circuit.

The clamp type AC/DC meter is an electromagnetic instrument, with the measured current carrying wire placed in the clamp as the excitation coil. The magnetic flux forms a loop in the iron core, and the electromagnetic measuring mechanism is located in the middle of the gap in the iron core, which is deflected by the magnetic field to obtain readings. Because its deflection is not affected by the measurement current, it can measure AC and DC currents.
