Pay attention to the lifespan of sensors of various gas detectors.

All kinds of gas sensors have a certain service life, that is, lifespan. Generally speaking, in portable instruments, the LEL sensor has a relatively long lifespan, which can generally be used for about three years; the lifespan of a photoionization detector is four years or longer; the lifespan of an electrochemical specific gas sensor is relatively shorter, generally ranging from one to two years; the lifespan of an oxygen sensor is the shortest, approximately about one year. The lifespan of an electrochemical sensor depends on the drying up of the electrolyte in it. Therefore, if it is not used for a long time, sealing it and placing it in an environment with a lower temperature can extend its service life to a certain extent. Therefore, the sensor should be detected at any time, and it should be used as much as possible within the valid period of the sensor. Once it fails, it should be replaced in a timely manner.

Pay attention to the concentration measurement range of the detection instrument:

All kinds of toxic and hazardous gas detectors have their fixed detection ranges. Only when the measurement is completed within its measurement range can the instrument accurately measure. And measuring beyond the measurement range for a long time may cause irreversible damage to the sensor. For example, if an LEL detector is accidentally used in an environment exceeding 100% LEL, it is likely to completely burn out the sensor. For toxic gas detectors, working at a relatively high concentration for a long time will also cause damage. Therefore, when a fixed instrument emits an over-limit signal during use, the measurement circuit should be immediately turned off to ensure the safety of the sensor.

At present, the detectors available for our selection include various combinations such as fixed/portable, diffusion type/pump suction type, single gas/multi-gas, inorganic gas/organic gas, etc. Only by selecting the appropriate gas detection instrument can we truly achieve twice the result with half the effort and prevent potential hazards in advance.
