Points to note when choosing a pH meter/acidity meter

When purchasing an acidity meter, we must first consider the application, choose a pen-type pH meter, a portable pH meter, a desktop pH meter or an industrial pH meter; secondly, consider the accuracy required for measurement and choose the accuracy that is suitable for your own use.

We need to consider the following points when choosing an acidity meter:

1. According to the classification of application, it can be divided into: pen pH meter, portable pH meter, laboratory pH meter and industrial pH meter, etc. The pen-type pH meter is mainly used to replace the function of pH test paper, and has the characteristics of low precision and convenient use.

Portable pH meters are mainly used for on-site and field measurement methods, which require high precision and perfect functions.

The laboratory pH meter is a desktop high-precision analytical instrument that requires high precision and full functions, including print output, data processing, etc.

The industrial pH meter is used for continuous measurement of industrial processes. It not only has the function of measurement display, but also has the function of alarm and control, as well as the consideration of installation, cleaning, anti-interference and other issues.

2. According to the classification of pH meter instrument accuracy: it can be divided into 0.2, 0.1, 0.05 and 0.01. The smaller the number, the higher the accuracy.

3. According to the type of components: it can be divided into transistor type, integrated circuit type and single-chip microcomputer type. More microcomputer chips are used, which greatly reduces the size of the instrument and the cost of a single machine; but the development cost of the chip is very expensive.

4. According to the classification of reading instructions: it can be divided into pointer type and digital display type. The pointer type pH meter has been rarely used, but the pointer type meter can display the continuous change process of the data, so it is still used in titration analysis.

5. Check whether the pH meter has any additional functions. For example, it has a standard RS232 interface. Another important thing is whether the temperature compensation is automatic or manual. The pH meter with automatic temperature compensation is more convenient than the pH meter with manual temperature compensation.
