Precautions for Combustible Gas Detector Operation
To standardize the use of combustible gas detectors, prevent malfunctions caused by improper operation, insufficient understanding of detector performance, non-compliant installation and inadequate maintenance, ensure correct operation to extend service life, and reduce failures and accidents. This document analyzes ten key points that operators shall observe when using combustible gas detectors:
① Select the model of combustible gas detector matching the working environment;
② Read the user manual of the combustible gas detector carefully and operate it following the standardized procedures;
③ Before use, confirm the combustible gas concentration in the test environment and the measuring range of the combustible gas detector;
④ Do not test the combustible gas detector with a lighter; ⑤ Power on the device in non-hazardous areas under normal ambient conditions;
⑥ Check whether the battery power is sufficient before operation. Do not replace or charge the battery in hazardous areas, as this may compromise the intrinsic safety of the instrument and cause fire or explosion hazards;
⑦ Do not use a butane cigarette lighter to test the response of the combustible gas sensor, otherwise the sensor will be damaged;
⑧ Do not immerse the gas detector in liquid. Be aware of cross-interference between different sensors and electromagnetic interference from the surrounding environment, which may affect measurement accuracy;
⑨ Replace the battery immediately when the gas detector triggers a low-power alarm;
⑩ Take multiple measurements at different locations and keep complete records to ensure the scientificity and credibility of test data.
After construction, inspect and commission the combustible gas detector to verify normal operation, keep the combustible gas detector and alarm in working condition, record all measured values correctly, power off the device properly as instructed in the manual, pack it up and store it in the designated place for normal use next time.
