Reasons, hazards and treatment methods of abnormal pH value
1. The ph value is too high or too high
(1) There is already a certain amount of algae in new water, but the water quality is not stable yet, and it tends to be high.
(2) Due to the strong photosynthesis of water bodies rich in blue-green algae, the pH value tends to rise above 9.5 around 5 o'clock in the afternoon.
(3) The ph value of water polluted by alkaline substances will also be high. Symptoms of fish alkalosis: stimulated and wildly swimming; a large amount of mucus on the body surface can even be pulled into silk; operculum corrosion damage, gills secrete a large amount of condensation; the water body is alkaline, generally the pH value is greater than 9; the water body exists Lots of dead and dying algal cells.
2. The ph value is low or too low
(1) The pond water that has been cultured for a long time has low transparency and a low ph value, even less than 7.5 in the afternoon.
(2) Contaminated by acidic substances. Symptoms of fish acidosis; body color is obviously whitish; aquatic plants appear brown or white; water body transparency increases significantly; water body is acidic and generally ph value is less than 4; water body has many dead algae and dying algal cells.
3. Prevention and treatment of abnormal pH value
(1) Frequently detect the change of the pH value of the water body, preferably once a day in the morning and evening. Once an abnormality occurs, find out the cause in time and take effective treatment measures.
(2) For new water, it is best to wait for the water quality to stabilize before releasing fish species.
(3) The water with blue-green algae should be controlled or replaced in time to cultivate new algal phases, and topdress inorganic fertilizers if necessary.
(4) For ponds that have been cultured for too long, there is too much organic matter in the silt. At this time, the amount of water exchange should be increased appropriately. If necessary, clean the bottom of the pond and sprinkle some lime to increase the pH value.
(5) When the pH value is always high and there is no other way, you can also consider using some non-toxic and weak acids such as acetic acid to lower the pH value.
(6) How to adjust the ph value of saline-alkali land
① Try not to use water sources with high ph value and high alkalinity. If possible, you can change the water to prevent the ph value of the pool water from being too high.
② For fish ponds with saline-alkali soil, it is not suitable to use quicklime for cleaning and disinfection to prevent the pH value from rising.
③ Remove macroalgae such as spinach, polygrass and charophytes from the fish pond. Reduce photosynthesis to avoid a substantial increase in the pH value, because algae perform vigorous photosynthesis under high temperature and strong sunlight, which greatly increases the pH value of the water body in a short period of time.
④ To control the overgrowth of floating plants, 0.5-0.7ppm of copper sulfate can be used to splash the whole pond.
⑤ Do not use silver carp and bighead carp as the main fish, but crucian carp, carp, grass carp, bream, tilapia, etc. should be the main fish.
⑥Emergency rescue measures can be splashed with acetic acid or hydrochloric acid in an appropriate amount to neutralize the ph value and prevent alkalosis and ammonia poisoning.
