How to adjust the pH value of aquaculture water
The ph value (acidity and alkalinity) is an important indicator of the water quality of fish ponds. It not only directly affects the physiological activities of fish, but also indirectly affects fish by changing other physical, chemical and biological factors in the water environment. Fish are most suitable for growth in neutral or slightly alkaline water with a pH value of 7.8 to 8.5. If the pH value is lower than 6 or higher than 10, it will cause harm to the growth of fish. The following is an introduction to the harm of pH discomfort and its solutions.
(1) The hazards and solutions of low pH value. If the pH value is too low, the acidic water body is likely to cause fish to be infected with parasitic diseases, such as ciliate disease and flagellate disease; secondly, the solubility of phosphate in the water body is affected, the decomposition rate of organic matter slows down, and the reproduction of natural bait slows down; moreover, The gills of the fish will be corroded, the acidity of the blood of the fish will increase, and the ability to use oxygen will decrease. Although the oxygen content in the water body is high, it will still lead to hypoxia and floating heads of the fish body, the activity of the fish will be weakened, and the utilization rate of bait will be greatly reduced. affect the normal growth of fish. The prevention methods are as follows: First, the old water in the pool can be drained, and new water can be injected, and repeated 2 to 3 times to adjust the pH value in the water body. The second is to sprinkle quicklime water every half a month, which can not only adjust the pH of the water body, but also prevent and control fish diseases.
(2) The hazards and solutions of excessive pH value. Too high a pH value will increase the toxicity of ammonia, and at the same time provide conditions for the occurrence of blue-green algae blooms. If the pH value is too high, it may also corrode the gill tissue of fish, causing a large number of deaths. There are four feasible methods to prevent the pH value of the water body from being too high: adjust with about 0.5 kg of alum per mu of water; or sprinkle with dilute hydrochloric acid or acetic acid; Quicklime should be used instead of bleaching powder.
