Scanning for "live" wires of GVDA GD216 Metal Detector Digital Wall Detector Pinpointer Metal Finder Wood Studs AC Voltage Live Wire Wall Scanner Electric Box
WARNING!
In some situations the tool may not accurately indicate the presence of live wires in a wall in the event of internal device failure or improper operation, and therefore should not be solely relied upon for identification of the presence of hazardous live wires. other evidence, such as construction blueprints or visual identification of wiring or conduit entry points should also be utilized.
WARNING!
Do not assume there are no live electrical wires in the wall. Do not take actions that could be dangerous if the wall contains a live electrical wire. Always turn off the electrical power, gas, and water supplies before penetrating a surface.
• Maximum detection depth: 50mm (220V@50Hz / 110V @ 60 Hz).
• Under certain conditions(such as when behind metalized or conductive surfaces, shielded in metal conduit or behind surfaces with high water content / moisture), “live” wires / conductors cannot be detected with certainty. Concrete, brick and ceramic surfaces have a shielding effect on the electric field signal from the live wire, so the detection depth of the live wire is also affected when detection on these surfaces.
• The live AC wire can be detected easier when power consumers are connected to the sought conductor and switched on.
• The signal of a “live” wire will spread from each side of an actual electrical wire, So sometimes the area of “live” wire alarm appears much larger than actual wire.
• When detecting the live wire, sometimes the room will be alarmed everywhere. It is due to the high humidity of the wall or the strong static electricity, you can reduce interference by pressing and holding the live wire detection mode button 8 until the buzzer makes a beep, the the scale m is empty, then release the button to continue to detect. If the scale m is still not empty after pressing and holding the live wire detection mode button 8, it means that the humidity is too high or the the static electricity is too strong, or the surrounding electromagnetic radiation is too large (for example, there are a large number of electrical appliances around), and the tool cannot accurately detect the live wire. You need to wait for the humidity to drop or turn off the electrical appliance, then try to detect.
• Static electricity can lead to inaccurate detection of electrical wires. It may also help to put a hand on the wall next to the detector and measure again in order to help remove the static electricity.
• The signal strength of a “live” wire depends on the position of the cable. Therefore, apply further measurements in close proximity or use other information sources to check if a “live” wire exists.
• Wires that are not “live” may be detected as metal objects or may not be detected. This includes solid copper cables, however stranded copper cables are not detectable.
1.Position the tool onto the surface to be scanned.
2.Press the button 8 briefly to enter the live wire detection mode, the symbol (
) will appear on the screen.
• If the tool is placed just above the live wire and then pressing the button 8 to enter the live wire detection mode, the tool will not detect the live wire below. You need to move the tool away, the tool will automatically restore the sensitivity, and then detect it again.
• If there is a signal on the screen without live wires around, it may be due to electromagnetic interference or static electricity, and calibration is needed. Press and hold the live wires detection mode button 8 until the scale m is empty, and the buzzer makes a beep. The calibration is completed. Then release the button to continue to detect.
3.Move the tool uniformly across the surface.
• When the tool comes close to a live wire, the scale m and the percentage n will increase. As the tool gets closer to the object, the yellow or red indicator will light and a steady tone sounds.
• When it moves away from the object, the scale m and the percentage n will decrease, and the buzzer stops sounding.
• When the wall thickness is thin or the humidity is high, in order to improve the “live” wire detection accuracy, the sensitivity of “live” wire detection can be reduced according to the actual situation in the “live” wire detection mode. The sensitivity of “live” wire detection is divided into four levels from low to high(1~4). The default is the highest sensitivity level (4). The sensitivity adjustment method is to press and hold buttons 7 and 8 at the same time. The specific number of level will be displayed on the screen. The sensitivity of “live” wire detection of the other mode will change at the same time.(Sensitivity will be restored to default after restart)
