Self-Calibration Methods for Infrared Thermometers

Referring to the principle and practical work experience of the blackbody furnace, the comparison standard used in self calibration is a self-made simple blackbody water tank with a specification of 450mmx300mm, made of iron sheet, and equipped with an electric heater inside. Use a stable 1.5-level pressure thermometer (which can be replaced by a calibrated glass liquid thermometer) as a standard to test the temperature inside the water tank. Considering that for measuring the surface temperature of most organic materials, paints, or oxidized surfaces, black tape or flat black paint needs to be applied to the measured surface to compensate, when the black tape or paint reaches the same temperature as the base material, measuring the temperature of the tape or paint surface is the working experience of the actual temperature. At the same time, considering the spot positioning test, use 80mmx80mm black adhesive tape to stick to the liquid surface at the same depth as the pressure thermometer probe. After the water in the water tank boils for 5 minutes, when the temperature field in the water tank is uniform, use an infrared tester to aim at the center point of the black adhesive tape for comparison

Technical requirements for infrared thermometers:
The basic error and measurement distance variation of infrared thermometer shall not exceed the provisions in Table 1.

Calibration items for infrared thermometers:
Based on on-site usage and practical experience, the calibration project mainly involves visual inspection, determination of basic errors, measurement of the impact of distance changes, and determination of the range of emissivity.

Calibration steps for infrared thermometer:
1) Visual inspection shows that all parts are assembled properly and without any defects;

2) Characters, symbols, and scales should be complete and clear;

3) The appearance and components should be well treated, without rust or mold spots;

4) If there is a "BAT" prompt, replace the battery in a timely manner;

5) The objective lens and eyepiece are undamaged, and the aiming should be clear. If there is a lot of dust in the environment, the surface of the lens should be cleaned, and the surface dust should be blown off with clean air or brushed off with a soft bristled brush.
