Service life of common gas detector

The service life of gas detector mainly depends on the service life of the sensor used in the instrument, which is generally about 1~3 years. Of course, this mainly depends on the specific factors affecting the sensors of gas detection instruments, and the specific results should be subject to the measurement verification results.

Generally speaking, the service life of common gas detection instrument detectors is as follows:

Electrochemical formula: 1 ~3 years

Semiconductor type: 3 ~4 years

Photoionization: 1 ~3 years

Infrared type: not less than 2 years

Catalytic combustion type: about 2 years.

There are many factors that affect the service life of the sensor of gas detection alarm, mainly including the following:
1. Environmental pressure
When the pressure in the environment is too high, the pressure difference between the inner and outer space of the sensor will be formed, which will compress the sensor element of the gas detection instrument.

2. Ambient temperature
When the temperature in the environment is too high, it may aggravate the consumption of electrolyte and lead to the reduction of service life; When the temperature in the environment is too low, not only the reaction sensitivity will decrease, but also the electrolyte may freeze and be unusable.

3. Ambient humidity
Humidity in the environment is the biggest influence factor on the sensor of gas detection alarm. Excessive humidity will dilute or even leak the electrolyte. Too low humidity may lead to dehydration of electrolyte and aggravate the reaction time.

4. Gas concentration
The gas detection alarm is in a high concentration gas environment for a long time, and the service life of the sensor will be greatly reduced because the electrolyte has been consumed or other reactions have been taking place.

The above is an introduction to the service life of gas detectors. Dongriying can especially remind that gas detectors should be calibrated at least once a year according to the requirements of the national metrological verification regulation "JJG 693-2013", and can be used normally only after passing the verification.
