Several Classification Standards of Gas Detectors

A gas detector is an instrument and tool for detecting the concentration of gas leakage. It mainly uses gas sensors to detect the types of gases present in the environment. A gas sensor is a sensor used to detect the composition and content of gases. Generally speaking, the definition of a gas sensor is based on the detection target. That is to say, any sensor used to detect the composition and concentration of gases is called a gas sensor, regardless of whether it uses physical or chemical methods.

There are roughly the following classifications of gas detectors:

① Classification of gas detectors according to the detection object: There are combustible gas (including methane) detection and alarm instruments, toxic gas detection and alarm instruments, and oxygen detection and alarm instruments.

② Classification according to the detection principle: For combustible gas detection, there are catalytic combustion type, semiconductor type, thermal conductivity type, and infrared absorption type, etc.; for toxic gas detection, there are electrochemical type, semiconductor type, etc.; for oxygen detection, there is electrochemical type, etc.

③ Classification according to the usage method: There are portable and fixed types.

④ Classification according to the usage place: There are conventional types and explosion-proof types.

⑤ Classification according to the function: There are gas detectors, gas alarm devices, and gas detection and alarm instruments.

⑥ Classification according to the sampling method: There are diffusion type and pump suction type.
