Signal Processing and Environmental Conditions of Infrared Thermometers

Infrared thermometer signal processing function:

Measuring discrete processes (such as part production) and continuous processes are different, requiring infrared thermometers to have signal processing functions (such as peak holding, valley holding, average value). When measuring the temperature of the glass on the conveyor belt, it is necessary to maintain the peak value and transmit the output signal of its temperature to the controller.

Environmental conditions considerations for infrared thermometers:

The environmental conditions in which the infrared thermometer is located have a significant impact on the measurement results, and should be considered and appropriately addressed, otherwise it may affect the temperature measurement accuracy and even cause damage to the thermometer. When the ambient temperature is too high and there is dust, smoke, and steam, accessories such as protective sleeves, water cooling, air cooling systems, and air blowers provided by the manufacturer can be selected. These accessories can effectively address environmental impacts and protect the thermometer, achieving accurate temperature measurement. When determining attachments, standardized services should be requested as much as possible to reduce installation costs. When smoke, dust, or other particles reduce the measured energy signal, a dual color thermometer is the best choice. Under noise, electromagnetic fields, vibrations, or difficult to access environmental conditions, or other harsh conditions, fiber optic dual color thermometers are the best choice.

In sealed or hazardous material applications (such as containers or vacuum boxes), the thermometer observes through a window. The material must have sufficient strength and be able to pass through the working wavelength range of the thermometer used. It is also necessary to determine whether the operator also needs to observe through the window, so appropriate installation positions and window materials should be selected to avoid mutual influence. In low-temperature measurement applications, Ge or Si materials are usually used as windows, which are opaque to visible light and cannot be observed by the human eye through the window. If the operator needs to pass through the window target, optical materials that transmit both infrared radiation and visible light should be used. For example, optical materials that transmit both infrared radiation and visible light should be used as window materials, such as ZnSe or BaF2.

The infrared thermometer is easy to operate and convenient to use:

The infrared thermometer should be intuitive, easy to operate, and easy for operators to use. Portable infrared thermometer is a small, lightweight, and portable instrument that integrates temperature measurement and display output. It can display temperature and output various temperature information on the display panel, and some can be operated through remote control or computer software programs.

In harsh and complex environmental conditions, a system with separate temperature measuring heads and displays can be selected for easy installation and configuration. The signal output form that matches the current control equipment can be selected.

Calibration of infrared radiation thermometer:

The infrared thermometer must be calibrated to accurately display the temperature of the measured target. If the thermometer used exceeds the temperature measurement tolerance during use, it needs to be returned to the manufacturer or maintenance center for recalibration.
