Steps to follow while utilizing a gas detector

Step 1: Check the gas detector

When we use a gas detector to enter the testing site, we must perform corresponding tests on the gas detector. What needs to be tested is whether the gas detector can work properly, such as whether the sensor is normal, whether the battery is sufficient, and whether various alarm functions are normal. These are all necessary items to be tested. However, many instruments now come with built-in detection functions, which will self check when turned on, For example, BW solo detector or Mesan detector, etc.

Step 2: Determine the location of the testing site

Before using a gas detector to enter the site, we need to determine the situation. If there is a possibility of gas leakage and the gas we need to detect, we need to take corresponding protective measures in advance based on various gases. If it is toxic gas, we need to take protective measures, such as air respirators, gas masks, etc.

Step 3: Start testing

After entering the testing site, we detect the gas that needs to be detected in the environment. We place the portable gas detector probe in the environment to be tested. When there is a leakage of the measured gas, the concentration display value increases. When it exceeds the alarm setting value, the alarm indicator light lights up and an alarm sound is emitted. When the probe moves to the leakage source, the concentration display screen of the gas detector increases in value and records the reading.

Step 4: Testing completed

After completing various tests in the environment, we need to transmit the test data for later research and management. Some gas detectors can directly transmit the test data to electronic products such as computers through Bluetooth and wireless transmission. After data transmission, the gas detector can be turned off.

Step 5: Charging

When the gas detector is low in power, we cannot use it for testing, and the gas detector will issue a low battery alarm signal. This is when we turn off the power and use a charger to charge the battery, each time for about 10-14 hours! After the battery is fully charged, it can be used again. However, some 2-year maintenance free gas detectors, such as the Delge PAC6000 gas detector or the Mesan Tianying maintenance free gas detector, do not require battery replacement during the 2-year service life.

Step 6: Maintenance and Calibration

After the gas detector is used, we should regularly clean and maintain it. After six months or one year of use, we should calibrate the gas detector to ensure that there are no detection errors. Therefore, it is necessary to calibrate the gas detector regularly.
