Structure and measurement principle of clamp meter

The clamp meter is divided into pointer type and digital type. Here, the pointer type is used as an example to illustrate the structure and working principle of the clamp meter. The structure of the pointer clamp meter is shown in Figure 1. As can be seen from the figure, the pointer clamp meter is mainly composed of an iron core, a coil, an ammeter, a range knob and a wrench.

When using the clamp meter, press the wrench, the opening of the iron core is opened, put the wire into the center of the iron core from the opening, and then release the wrench, the opening of the iron core is closed. When a current flows through the wire, a magnetic field will be generated around the wire, and the magnetic field lines of the magnetic field will pass through the coil along the iron core, and the coil will generate a current immediately. The greater the current flowing through the wire, the greater the magnetic field generated by the wire, the more magnetic lines of force passing through the coil, the greater the current generated by the coil, the greater the current flowing into the ammeter, and the greater the swing of the needle, the greater the indicated current. the larger the value.
