①For linear power supply, since the adjustment tube in the voltage stabilizing circuit is in the linear region, the front and rear pressure difference is large, resulting in low conversion efficiency of the linear power supply, only 35% to 60%, while the adjustment tube of the switching power supply is in the switching state, and the conversion efficiency is high. 80% to 90%.


② Due to the existence of the power frequency transformer and the severe heat dissipation of the adjusting tube, the linear power supply is bulky and heavy. The switching power supply is smaller and more flexible because it uses a high-frequency transformer and the heat of the switching tube is not serious.


③ Due to the high operating frequency (20KHz ~ 200KHz), the switching power supply has poor power supply noise and ripple, large electromagnetic interference, and the adjustment rate is not as good as the linear power supply. Therefore, in some occasions, such as high-quality audio, linear power supplies still have their place.
