Ten Methods to Extend the Service Life of Metallurgical Microscopes
① If conditions permit, the laboratory is recommended to meet three protection requirements: shock protection (keep away from vibration sources), moisture protection (use air conditioners and dryers), and dust protection (lay floor panels on the ground). Power supply: 220V±10%, 50Hz; Temperature range: 0°C–40°C.
② During focusing, take care to prevent the objective lens from colliding with the specimen to avoid scratches.
③ Do not switch objective lenses when the center of the circular hole of the stage insert deviates from the center of the objective lens, so as not to scratch the objective lens.
④ Avoid frequent drastic adjustments of the microscope brightness, and do not set the brightness excessively high. Excessive brightness shortens the service life of the bulb and also harms eyesight.
⑤ Perform all function switching operations gently and make sure each operation is fully in place.
⑥ Turn the brightness down to the minimum before switching off the power.
⑦ Non-professional personnel shall not adjust the illumination system (filament lamp position), otherwise the imaging quality may be affected.
⑧ Be cautious of high temperature when replacing the halogen lamp to prevent burns. Do not touch the glass envelope of the halogen lamp directly with hands.
⑨ When the microscope is powered off and not in use, lower the objective lens to the lowest position via the focusing mechanism.
⑩ Do not put on the dust cover immediately after shutdown. Cover it only after the instrument cools down, and pay attention to fire prevention.
The above are key precautions. Please operate the microscope carefully. If you encounter unsolvable problems during use, contact the microscope supplier by phone immediately for solutions.
