1. Distinguish between AC and DC power

This is one of the techniques of using a test pen, using a test pen to distinguish between AC power and DC power.

Method: When testing alternating current, the two poles of the neon tube will light up at the same time; and when testing direct current, only one pole of the neon tube will light up. The bright end is the positive pole of the power supply.

2. Determine the voltage level

Experienced electricians can use a test pen to do many things. For example, using a test pen to judge the voltage level is one of the skills.

Use the strength of the neon tube of the test pen to estimate the approximate value of the voltage. The higher the neon tube, the higher the voltage.

3. Determine the induction electric

Using a test pen to judge the induced electricity is another technique of using the test pen.

Measured on the same power supply, the neon tube glows normally, and the metal case is brighter when touched by hand, while the induction electroluminescence is weak, and there is no response when the metal case is touched by hand.

4. Check whether the phase line touches the shell

Use a test pen to touch the housing of the electrical equipment. If the neon tube glows, it means that there is a leakage problem caused by the phase line touching the housing.
