The Application of Gas Detector in Metallurgy
Combustible gas detectors, fixed gas detectors, and various gas detectors are also widely used in metallurgy (smelting), mainly focusing on the production of steel and aluminum. China is the largest steel producer in the world. In recent years, iron and steel production enterprises have been affected by gas safety accidents in the production process, and their safety awareness has become higher and higher. Therefore, it has become more and more important to use combustible gas detectors to monitor the concentration of various gases.
There are many harmful gases that need to be dealt with during the steel production process, including carbon monoxide (CO), ammonia (NH3), sulfur compounds, cyanide compounds, and benzene during production. In addition, pure oxygen, enriched oxygen, etc. necessary for the production process. At the same time, it is necessary to use nitrogen or argon as a protective gas during the processing of steel.
In iron and steel smelting production enterprises, carbon monoxide is a relatively common poisonous and harmful gas. At present, the main fuel used by the steel industry is coal gas. At the same time, gas is also produced during the operation of blast furnaces, converters and coke ovens. Therefore, detection of carbon monoxide and combustible gases is important to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning or gas explosions.
Because the processing requires a lot of water and energy, steelmaking facilities often need to be equipped with water treatment and power generation facilities, which also produce harmful gas hydrogen. Hydrogen cross-reacts with CO electrochemical sensors, so CO sensors capable of filtering hydrogen should be standard equipment in steel mills.
At the same time, highly toxic gases such as hydrogen sulfide and cyanide will also participate in the iron and steel smelting process, posing a greater safety hazard.
Use combustible gas detectors, fixed gas detectors, and multiple gas detectors to monitor the concentration changes of toxic gases and combustible gases online from time to time. As long as the gas leak detector sends out an alarm signal, the gas monitoring system equipped in the duty room will also send out an alarm signal accordingly, prompting relevant personnel or on-site personnel to take preventive measures to avoid further development of the situation and cause safety accidents.
