The difference between carbon monoxide gas detector and combustible gas detector

Carbon monoxide detectors and combustible gas detectors are very different, and many dealers and users often confuse the two. In fact, the difference between the two is very big. If you are not careful, you will install a flammable gas detector by mistake in the occasion where you need to use a carbon monoxide detector, and install a carbon monoxide detector on the occasion where a flammable gas detector should be installed, which will give people's lives. Great loss of property.

Carbon monoxide detectors are used to detect carbon monoxide gas (CO). It cannot be used to detect alkane gases such as methane (CH4).

Combustible gas detectors on the market can usually be used to detect natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas or coal-based gas, etc. The urban pipeline gas is usually one of these three gases. The main components of these gases are alkane gases such as methane (C4H4), which are mainly characterized by a pungent odor. When the concentration of these flammable gases in the air exceeds a certain standard, it will cause an explosion. The combustible gas detector is this explosive alkane gas, and cannot be used to detect carbon monoxide gas.

Urban pipeline coal-to-gas is a special kind of gas, which contains both CO and alkane gases. Therefore, if you only detect whether there is leakage of pipeline gas, you can use either a carbon monoxide detector or a combustible gas detector. However, if you want to detect whether the pipeline natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas or coal gas produces excess carbon monoxide gas when it is burned, you need to use a carbon monoxide detector. In addition, heating with a coal stove, burning coal, etc. produces carbon monoxide gas (CO), not alkane gas such as methane (CH4). So carbon monoxide detectors should be used instead of combustible gas detectors. It is useless to install a combustible gas detector if a coal stove is used for heating and burning coal. If a person is poisoned, the combustible gas detector will not ring. This is quite dangerous.
