The difference between illuminometer and UV illuminometer

Both UV illuminometers and illuminometers are instruments that measure the intensity of light, but the UV illuminometer measures the intensity of ultraviolet rays, while the illuminometer measures the intensity of visible light. It looks like the name is similar, but the function is very different.

UV illuminometer is also called ultraviolet radiation meter, and the unit is mainly mW/cm2 or uW/cm2. According to the wavelength of ultraviolet rays, it can be divided into UVA, UVB, UVC, etc. The ultraviolet rays of different wavelengths are used in different occasions. For example, ultraviolet rays in the UVC band are mainly used for sterilization, ultraviolet rays in the UVB band are used to treat skin diseases, and ultraviolet rays in the UVA band are used for curing. Therefore, the selection of UV illuminance timing should also be selected according to the wavelength band of the light source.

Illuminometer

Illuminance meter is an instrument used to measure luminosity and brightness. The unit is Lux. It is mainly used in lighting illumination detection in public places, lighting production industry, photography industry, stage lighting layout and other places.

The composition of the photocell illuminance meter: microammeter, shift knob, zero adjustment, terminal, photocell, V(λ) correction filter, etc. Commonly used selenium (Se) photocell or silicon (Si) photocell illuminometer, also known as lux meter

Types of light meters:

1. Visual illuminometer: inconvenient to use, not very accurate, rarely used

2. Photoelectric illuminance meter: commonly used selenium photovoltaic illuminance meter and silicon photovoltaic illuminance meter

For the measurement method of illuminance, it is generally measured with an illuminometer. The illuminometer can measure the intensity of different wavelengths (such as the measurement of visible light and ultraviolet wavelengths), and can provide people with accurate measurement results.
