The Five Major Classifications of Switching DC Power Supplies
(1) Communication DC power supply
Communication DC power supply is essentially a DC/DC converter type DC power supply, but it is generally powered by DC-48V or -24V and backed up by a backup battery to convert the DC supply voltage into the working voltage of the circuit. It is generally divided into three types: central power supply, layered power supply, and single board power supply, with the latter having high reliability.
(2) Radio DC power supply
The DC power input of the radio station is AC220V/110V, and the output is DC13.8V. The power is determined by the power supplied to the radio station, and there are products available in several amps and hundreds of amps To prevent power outages in the AC power grid from affecting the operation of the radio station, a battery pack is required as a backup. Therefore, this type of DC power supply not only outputs a 13.8V DC voltage, but also has the function of automatically switching battery charging.
(3) Module DC power supply
With the rapid development of science and technology, the requirements for the reliability and capacity/volume ratio of DC power supplies are becoming increasingly high. Modular DC power supplies are showing their superiority, with high operating frequency, small size, high reliability, and easy installation and combination expansion. Therefore, they are becoming more and more widely used. At present, although there are corresponding module productions in China, the failure rate is relatively high due to the production process not catching up with international standards.
(4) AC/DC DC power supply
This type of DC power supply, also known as a primary DC power supply, takes energy from the power grid, rectifies and filters it to obtain a DC high voltage, which is used by the DC/DC converter to obtain one or several stable DC voltages at the output terminal. The power ranges from a few watts to several kilowatts and is suitable for different fields. There are many specifications and models of products in this category, and the primary DC power supply (AC220 input, DC48V or 24V output) in communication DC power supply can also be classified according to user needs
(5) DC/DC power supply, also known as secondary DC power supply in communication systems, is a DC input voltage provided by a primary DC power supply or battery pack. After DC/DC conversion, one or several DC voltages are obtained at the output terminal.
Although the cost of DC/DC module DC power supply is currently high, considering the overall cost of the product's long application cycle, especially the high maintenance costs and reputation losses caused by system failures, choosing this DC power supply module is still cost-effective.
