The main applications of anemometers

 

An anemometer is an instrument that measures the flow rate of air. It has a variety of types, with wind cup anemometers commonly used in meteorological stations;


It consists of three parabolic cone empty cups fixed on a bracket at an angle of 120 ° to each other, forming an induction part. The concave surfaces of the empty cups all face in the same direction.


The entire sensing part is installed on a vertical rotating axis, and under the action of wind, the wind cup rotates around the axis at a speed proportional to the wind speed.


Another type of rotary anemometer is a propeller type anemometer, which consists of a three blade or four blade propeller as an induction component;


Install it at the front end of a wind vane so that it is always aligned with the direction of the wind. The blades rotate around the horizontal axis at a speed proportional to the wind speed.


Anemometers are widely used and can be flexibly applied in all fields, widely used in industries such as power, steel, petrochemical, and energy conservation;


There are other applications in the Beijing Olympics, such as sailing competitions, rowing competitions, and field shooting competitions, which all require the use of anemometers for measurement.


The current anemometers are relatively advanced, which can not only measure wind speed, but also measure wind temperature and air volume.


There are many industries that require the use of anemometers, and recommended industries to use include offshore fishing, various fan manufacturing, industries that require exhaust systems, and so on.


The main purpose of the anemometer is:

1. Measure the speed and direction of average flow.


2. Measure the pulsation velocity of incoming flow and its spectrum.


3. Measure the Reynolds stress in turbulence and the velocity and time correlations between two points.


4. Measure the wall shear stress (usually using a hot film probe placed flush with the wall, similar to the principle of dedicated line velocity measurement).


5. Measure the fluid temperature (by measuring the variation curve of the probe resistance with the fluid temperature in advance, and then determining the temperature based on the measured probe resistance).
