The scope of application and cleaning and maintenance methods of the microscope

A tool that can magnify small objects is a microscope. It is now widely used in the education, healthcare, culinary, manufacturing, and other sectors. Biological microscopes, which are frequently employed in educational and medical settings, and industrial microscopes, which find extensive use in the metallurgy, mining, and electronics industries Metallographic microscopes are used to examine and study metal, mineral, circuit board, surface coating, and particle structures.

Through the use of two lenses, the metallographic microscope also magnifies small objects in front of us using the optical imaging principle, but its overall magnification is less than 1000 times, with 400 times being the most common value. In addition, the optical path of a metallographic microscope and a biological microscope are highly unlike. Transmitted light imaging is typically used in biological microscopes, whereas metallographic microscopes use reflected light imaging because metal and other samples are typically opaque. Metallographic microscopes are also divided into two types: upright and inverted. Because the sample is often measured and analyzed in metallographic observation, the eyepiece of the metallographic microscope has a special eyepiece that can be roughly measured, called the micrometer eyepiece. This kind of eyepiece is to add a cross reticle with a scale to the lens of the eyepiece, so as to realize the simple measurement of the sample. The objective lens of metallographic microscope is also divided into ordinary achromatic objective lens and flat field achromatic objective lens. Since the common magnification of metallographic microscopes is generally 400 times, some metallographic microscopes are only equipped with a 40 times flat field objective lens in the standard type in order to save costs. In addition, because metallographic microscopes do some analysis and research on metal structures, metallographic microscopes with trinoculars connected to computers are more commonly used, and professional metallographic analysis software for these analysis and research is also a common configuration of metallographic microscopes. However, because these metallographic analysis software are very professional, the professional requirements for users are also very high. In addition, there are also some metallographic prototypes and profiling machines for processing samples, which are often used together.

Since the metallographic microscope is also a precision instrument, after using the microscope, it is necessary to carry out the necessary cleaning work, and then put it in the tool cabinet. In addition, the microscope should be cleaned and maintained regularly; pay attention to moisture and humidity. When cleaning the most critical objective lenses and eyepieces, be sure to gently wipe with a cotton ball. For difficult-to-clean dirt, you can use a cotton ball dipped in a mixture of ethanol and yi ether (8 and 2 ratio) to gently wipe. Cotton balls cannot be reused. In addition, after using a high-power oil immersion objective lens, more attention should be paid to cleaning to prevent contamination of other non-oil lenses. Many microscopes have done a good mold-proof treatment on the lens itself.
