The usage method and precautions of fixed gas detectors

The gas detector is a precision machinery that can detect the gas environment in the factory area in real time, protecting the life safety of personnel in the factory area. However, problems often arise during the use of fixed gas detection, which makes it difficult to fulfill the responsibility of safeguarding safety. For such precision machinery, proper maintenance and upkeep are often required, mostly due to improper use by users, lack of understanding of detector performance, improper equipment selection, users not following standard requirements for construction, and insufficient maintenance, resulting in various malfunctions of gas detectors in the later stages of use, affecting their normal operation. In fact, mastering the correct usage method and regular maintenance can not only ensure the accuracy of gas detector detection, but also extend its service life.

During the use of gas detectors, combustible gas alarms should be kept away from air conditioning and heating equipment to avoid malfunctions caused by improper positioning. When using air conditioning and heating equipment, if the cold and warm air flows directly through the combustible gas alarm, it is possible to cause errors in the electrical resistivity of the platinum wire of the combustible gas alarm. During the use of combustible gas alarms, users should also pay attention to preventing electromagnetic interference; The installation position, installation angle, protective measures, and system wiring of the combustible gas alarm should be protected against electromagnetic interference. There are three main ways in which the electromagnetic environment affects combustible gas alarms: airborne electromagnetic wave interference, narrow pulse groups on power and other input and output lines, and human static electricity.

In the construction of gas detectors, the combustible gas alarm is not located near the equipment that is prone to combustible gas leakage, or is installed adjacent to the exhaust fan. The leaked combustible gas cannot fully diffuse to the vicinity of the combustible gas alarm, resulting in the leakage danger not being detected by the combustible gas alarm in a timely manner. For combustible gas alarms in residential areas, they should be installed near gas pipelines and stoves in the kitchen. When residents use natural gas, gas detectors should be installed on the ceiling within 300mm of the ceiling; When residents use liquefied petroleum gas, gas detectors should be installed within 300mm of the ground. If the combustible gas alarm is not reliably grounded and electromagnetic interference cannot be eliminated, it will inevitably affect the voltage and cause inaccurate detection data faults. Therefore, the combustible gas alarm should be reliably grounded during the construction process. The combustible gas alarm and wiring terminals are located in areas that are prone to collision or water ingress, causing open or short circuits in electrical circuits. Welding must use non corrosive flux, otherwise the corrosion at the joint will detach or increase the line resistance, affecting normal detection. Do not drop or throw the detector onto the ground. After construction, debugging should be carried out to ensure that the combustible gas alarm is in normal working condition.

The usage method and precautions of fixed gas detectors

Maintenance methods for fixed gas detectors:
1. Regular calibration, testing, and inspection should be carried out for the maintenance of fixed gas detectors. Generally, the calibration frequency is once a year;

2. During installation, the detector should not be placed close to the wall and sufficient space should be reserved around it for daily maintenance and troubleshooting;

3. The external part of the detector needs to be kept clean as a whole, and a soft damp cloth can be used to wipe the surface of the detector. Do not use a damp cloth with water droplets to prevent water droplets from accidentally splashing into the interior of the detector;

4. Ensure that the detector is in a dry state and avoid being affected by humid environments to ensure its detection accuracy and service life;

5. The sensor dust cover is used to protect the "shield" of the sensor. In order to prevent the dust cover from being blocked by dust and affecting the effectiveness of the sensor, it is necessary to regularly clean the sensor dust cover. A soft and clean brush can be used to clean the surface dirt and wipe it clean with warm water. After the filter is dried, it should be covered again;

6. As the most important part of a gas detector, the sensor is known as the heart of the gas detector. In order to make the heart beat steadily for a long time, it is necessary to avoid exposing the sensor to the odor generated by inorganic or organic solvents as much as possible. Especially for electrochemical sensors used to detect toxic and harmful gases, the evaporation or contamination of their electrolyte can cause a decrease in the sensor's signal and shorten its service life.
