The use of high magnification of metallographic microscope

This is how the metallurgical microscope produces an image: when the object to be observed is placed outside the focus of the objective lens near the focal point, the solid image formed behind the objective lens is just inside the focus of the eyepiece near the focal point, and then magnified again by the eyepiece to form an imaginary image. What is observed is an inverted virtual image after two magnifications.

In the imaging process of metallurgical microscope, high-magnification lens is a very important factor, we learn how to use the most appropriate.

(1) select the target.
Must first be in the low magnification of the parts to be further observed to the centre, at the same time the object image adjusted to the degree of * clear, in order to carry out the observation of high magnification.

(2) Turn the converter.
Switch on the high-magnification lens, conversion of high-magnification lens rotation speed should be slow, and from the side of the observation (to prevent high-magnification lens collision with the slide), such as high-magnification lens touches the slide, that is, the low-magnification lens focus is not adjusted, should be re-opened.

(3) Adjust the focus.
After converting the high magnification, with the left eye in the eyepiece observation, at this time generally can see a not very clear object, can be fine adjuster spiral counterclockwise movement of about 0.5-1 circle, you can get a clear object (do not use the coarse adjuster!).

If the brightness of the observation field of the metallurgical microscope is not suitable, the light collector and aperture can be used to adjust, if you need to change the slide specimen, you must turn the coarse adjuster clockwise (do not turn in the wrong direction) to make the mirror stage down, before you can remove the slide specimen.

In metallurgical microscope, if you want to make the image bigger, you have to make the objective lens close to the object, and the eyepiece far away from the objective lens, and if the image is smaller, the opposite is true...
