Thickness gauge operating procedures and precautions

Thickness gauge is an instrument used to measure the thickness of materials and objects. It is often used in industrial production to continuously or randomly measure the thickness of products (such as steel plates, steel strips, films, paper, metal foils and other materials). Among such instruments are radioactive thickness gauges that utilize the penetration characteristics of alpha rays, beta rays, and gamma rays; ultrasonic thickness gauges that utilize ultrasonic frequency changes; eddy current thickness gauges that utilize the eddy current principle; and mechanical contact measurement principles. Thickness gauge, etc.

Thickness gauge operating procedures
1. Open the package, place the aluminum thin ring in the box on the copper step on the table below the thickness gauge, and place it horizontally.

2. Before testing, align the zero position of the meter and move the joystick several times to return to zero before testing again. During operation, be careful to lift and release the meter to avoid damaging the platform, measuring foot and instrument.

3. Press the operating lever with your finger to raise the measuring head, place the object to be measured between the workbench and the measuring feet, and control the lever easily. The reading of the meter at this time is the thickness of the object to be measured.

4. After using the thickness gauge, put it into the instrument box and place it in a dry place to prevent moisture.

5. This instrument cannot be used for horizontal measurement.

Precautions
The main testing methods of thickness gauge are: magnetic thickness measurement method, radiation thickness measurement method, electrolytic thickness measurement method, eddy current thickness measurement method, and ultrasonic thickness measurement method.

Measurement notes:
⒈When conducting the test, it should be noted that the metal magnetism and surface roughness of the standard piece should be similar to that of the test piece.

⒉ Keep the side head perpendicular to the surface of the sample during measurement.

⒊When measuring, pay attention to the critical thickness of the base metal. If it is greater than this thickness, the measurement will not be affected by the thickness of the base metal.

⒋When measuring, pay attention to the influence of the curvature of the specimen on the measurement. Measurements on curved specimen surfaces are therefore unreliable.

⒌Before measuring, pay attention to whether other electrical equipment around you will generate a magnetic field. If so, it will interfere with the magnetic thickness measurement method.

⒍When measuring, be careful not to measure at the inner corner or near the edge of the specimen, because general thickness gauges are very sensitive to sudden changes in the surface shape of the specimen.

⒎Keep the pressure constant during measurement, otherwise it will affect the measurement reading.

⒏When testing, pay attention to the direct contact between the instrument probe and the test piece, so the ultrasonic thickness gauge is cleaning the attached material on the opposite side.
