Ultrasonic anemometers are a powerful alternative to mechanical anemometers

The working principle of an ultrasonic anemometer is to use the ultrasonic time difference method to measure wind speed. Due to its excellent ability to overcome the inherent defects of mechanical anemometers, it can work normally 24/7 and for a long time, and is becoming increasingly widely used. It will be a powerful substitute for mechanical anemometers.

The working principle of an ultrasonic anemometer

The working principle of an ultrasonic anemometer is to use the ultrasonic time difference method to measure wind speed. The propagation speed of sound in the air will be superimposed with the airflow speed in the wind direction. If the direction of ultrasonic propagation is the same as the direction of wind, its speed will accelerate;

On the contrary, if the propagation direction of ultrasound is opposite to the wind direction, its speed will slow down. Therefore, under fixed detection conditions, the speed of ultrasonic propagation in the air can correspond to the function of wind speed. The wind speed and direction can be obtained through calculation. When sound waves propagate in the air, their speed is greatly influenced by temperature; The anemometer detects two opposite directions on two channels, so the effect of temperature on the velocity of sound waves can be ignored.

Users can choose wind speed units, output frequency, and output format as needed. You can also choose heating devices (recommended for use in cold environments) or analog outputs as needed. It can be used in conjunction with computers, data collectors, or other collection devices with RS485 or analog output compatibility. If necessary, multiple machines can also be used as a network.

Let's take a look at the application fields of ultrasonic anemometers

The application of ultrasonic anemometers is convenient and flexible in many fields, widely used in urban environmental monitoring, wind power generation, meteorological monitoring, bridges and tunnels, navigation ships, airports, various fan manufacturing industries, industries that require exhaust systems, and so on.
