Usage Steps and Numerical Reading of Lux Meters

1. Power on and mode settings:
According to the different models of illuminance meters, after turning on the device, confirm that it is in the correct measurement mode. Generally, illuminance meters default to Lux or Fc units.

2. Positioning and measurement:
Place the sensor of the illuminance meter facing the light source, ensuring that the sensor plane receives complete illumination and avoiding the influence of shadows or obstructions. When measuring ambient lighting, it should be as close as possible to the surface or work plane of the object being measured, as the illuminance decays with the square of distance.

3. Read values:
The digital illuminance meter will directly display the current light intensity value on the display screen, while the analog illuminance meter reads it by pointing the pointer to the scale on the dial. Ensure stable readings before recording to avoid data deviation caused by fluctuations in lighting.

4. Consider response time:
Some illuminance meters have response time settings, which refer to the time interval from changes in lighting to stable display values. The response time is adjusted according to actual needs to ensure real-time and accurate readings.

The working principle and types of illuminance meters
The core function of an illuminance meter is to measure the luminous flux of light per unit area, which is Lux or Foot candle. The working principle is usually to use photosensitive elements to convert light signals into electrical signals, which are processed by internal circuits to display illuminance values. There are various types of illuminance meters, including traditional analog pointer type, modern digital LCD display type, and intelligent illuminance meters that can be connected to mobile devices for data synchronization.

Precautions and Maintenance
1. Avoid direct exposure to strong light: Prolonged exposure to strong light sources may cause a decrease in the performance of the illuminance meter sensor and distortion of readings. When measuring in extremely high brightness environments, it is important to pay attention to protection.

2. Regular calibration: The illuminance meter may experience accuracy deviation after long-term use. It is recommended to send it to a professional institution for calibration at regular intervals to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the measurement data.

3. Storage and maintenance: During non use periods, store the illuminance meter in a dry, cool place, avoid hitting or squeezing, keep the sensor clean, and extend its service life.
