Use and maintenance of laboratory pH meter electrodes
1. Before testing the slurry sample, completely immerse the laboratory pH meter electrode head in the uniformly mixed sample, shake the container carrying the sample to make the pH meter electrode fully contact the sample, and then stand still for testing; Do not hold the pH meter electrode and stir it in the test sample to avoid damage to the pH meter electrode.
2. After each test, the pH meter electrodes should be rinsed clean with distilled water, and then dried with soft absorbent paper. Hard paper should not be used to wipe the pH meter electrode spherical test head to avoid mechanical damage to the pH meter electrodes.
3. The sensitive pH meter glass bubble inside the plastic protective barrier should not come into contact with hard objects and should not be wiped. Any damage or scratching will cause the pH meter electrode to fail.
4. After using the laboratory pH meter, it is necessary to soak the pH meter electrode test head in KC1 (3mol · L-1) protective solution. Usually, if the sensitive film of the pH meter electrode test head dries up for a few hours, it will cause irreparable damage to the pH meter electrode.
5. The composite PH electrode should avoid long-term immersion in distilled water, protein solution, or acidic fluoride solution, and prevent contact with organic silicon oil.
6. Most pH composite electrodes have a nominal operating temperature range of 0-70 ℃ and should be avoided from overheating.
7. After long-term use of the laboratory pH meter electrode, if a decrease in gradient is found, it can usually be soaked in a 0.1% HC1 solution for 12 hours, or soaked in 4% HF acid for 3-58 hours, then washed with distilled water, and then soaked in KC1 to rejuvenate it; If it is contaminated by substances such as oil, resin, and protein, different cleaning agents should be selected according to the specific category of pollutants for cleaning.
