The purpose of this is to prevent the soldering iron tip from directly contacting water at high temperature and accelerating oxidation. It should be pointed out that the function of the cleaning sponge is to test the residual tin and oxides on the tip of the soldering iron, and do not throw tin or knock tin.
(2) About the maintenance of the soldering iron tip
Soldering iron tips are consumables, and proper use and maintenance can greatly extend the life of the soldering iron tips. First of all, before the new soldering iron tip is used for the first time, be sure to adjust the temperature of the soldering iron to 220 degrees, let the tinned part of the soldering iron tip fully eat tin, preferably soak it in the tin pile for 5 minutes, and then wipe it on the cleaning sponge Try clean, and adjust the temperature of the soldering iron to 300 degrees again, repeat the above procedure, and finally adjust the temperature of the soldering iron to the required temperature for use. The purpose of this is to form a protective film on the tin layer of the soldering iron tip to prevent the new soldering iron tip from being directly oxidized at high temperature. Before going off work every day, wipe the tip of the soldering iron on the cleaning sponge, and then apply a little fresh solder. Before using it on the next day, wipe the tip of the soldering iron on the cleaning sponge, and then use it again after tinning. By operating in the above manner, the service life of the soldering iron tip can be maximized. It should be pointed out that the use temperature of the soldering iron head should not be too high. The higher the temperature, the shorter the life of the soldering iron head. Generally, the recommended temperature is 350 degrees. Under normal circumstances, when the soldering iron is used at a temperature of 350 degrees, works 8 hours a day, and is maintained according to the normal maintenance procedures, the service life of the soldering iron tip is generally about 30,000 solder joints.
