Uses of laser confocal microscopy
The laser confocal microscope, based on the principle of confocal technology, is an inspection instrument used for micro- and nano-scale measurements on the surfaces of various precision devices and materials.
The goal of materials science is to study the influence of the surface structure of a material on its surface properties. Therefore, it is important to analyse the surface topography at high resolution to determine parameters related to surface roughness, reflective properties, tribological properties and surface quality. Confocal techniques are capable of measuring materials with a variety of surface reflective properties and obtaining valid measurement data.
Based on the confocal microscope technology, combined with the precision Z scanning module and 3D modelling algorithm, the laser confocal microscope can scan the surface of the device in a non-contact manner and build up a 3D image of the surface, thus realizing the 3D measurement of the surface topography of the device.
