What are the classifications of DC regulated power supplies?

1. Multi-channel adjustable DC stabilized power supply
Multi-channel adjustable DC regulated power supply is a type of adjustable regulated power supply. Its characteristic is that one power supply provides two or even three or four outputs with independently set voltages.

Basically, it can be regarded as several single-channel output power supplies used together, which is suitable for occasions that require multiple voltage power supplies. More advanced multi-channel power supplies also have voltage tracking functions, allowing several outputs to be adjusted in a coordinated manner.

2. Precision adjustable DC regulated power supply
Precision adjustable DC regulated power supply is a type of adjustable regulated power supply. It is characterized by high voltage and current adjustment resolution and voltage setting accuracy better than 0.01V. In order to accurately display voltage, current mainstream precision power supplies use multi-digit digital meters for indication.

The solutions for voltage and current limiting precision adjustment mechanisms are different. The low-cost solution uses two coarse and fine adjustment potentiometers, the standard solution uses a multi-turn potentiometer, and the high-end power supply uses digital settings controlled by a microcontroller.

3. High-resolution CNC power supply
A regulated power supply controlled by a single-chip microcomputer is also called a numerically controlled power supply. It is easier to achieve precise adjustment and setting through numerical control. The internal circuitry of the precision regulated power supply is also relatively advanced, and the voltage stability is also relatively good. The voltage drift of the precision regulated power supply is small, and it is usually suitable for precision experimental situations.

Precision DC regulated power supply is the domestic name for imported power supplies. There are basically no nominal precision power supplies for foreign imported power supplies, only high-resolution power supplies and programmable power supplies.

4. Programmable power supply
A programmable power supply is an adjustable voltage-stabilized power supply controlled digitally by a microcontroller, and its set parameters can be stored for later recall. There are many parameters for programmable power supply settings, including basic voltage settings, power limit settings, overcurrent settings, and extended overvoltage settings.

Generally, programmable power supplies have higher setting resolution, and voltage and current parameter settings can be entered through the numeric keyboard. Mid- to high-end programmable power supplies also have very small voltage drift and are mostly used in scientific research situations.
