What aspects should be used as a reference when choosing a non-contact infrared thermometer?

Non-contact infrared thermometer products include three series of portable, on-line and scanning, and are equipped with various optional accessories and corresponding computer software, and each series has various models and specifications. Among various models of thermometers with different specifications, it is very important for users to correctly select the model of non-contact infrared thermometer.

The selection of non-contact infrared thermometers can be divided into four reference aspects:

1. Determine the temperature measurement range

The temperature measurement range is the most important performance index of the thermometer. Each type of thermometer has its own specific temperature range. Therefore, the user's measured temperature range must be considered accurately and comprehensively, neither too narrow nor too wide. According to the law of blackbody radiation, the change of radiation energy caused by temperature in the short-wave band of the spectrum will exceed the change of radiation energy caused by emissivity error. Therefore, it is better to use short-wave as much as possible when measuring temperature.

2. Simple operation and convenient use

Infrared thermometers should be intuitive, easy to operate, and easy for operators to use. Among them, portable infrared thermometers are small, light, and portable temperature measurement instruments that integrate temperature measurement and display output. The temperature can be displayed on the display panel and various temperature information can be output, and some can be operated by remote control or computer software program. In the case of harsh and complicated environmental conditions, a system with a separate temperature measuring head and display can be selected for easy installation and configuration. The signal output form matching the current control equipment can be selected.

3. Performance indicators

Such as temperature range, spot size, operating wavelength, measurement accuracy, response time, etc.; environmental and working conditions, such as ambient temperature, window, display and output, protective accessories, etc.; other options, such as ease of use, maintenance and calibration performance, and Price, etc., also have a certain impact on the choice of thermometer. With the continuous development of technology and technology, infrared thermometer design and new developments provide users with various functions and multi-purpose instruments, expanding the choice.

4. Determine the optical resolution (distance and sensitivity)

The optical resolution is determined by the ratio D to S, which is the ratio of the distance D between the pyrometer to the target and the diameter S of the measurement spot. If the thermometer must be installed far away from the target due to environmental conditions, and a small target must be measured, a thermometer with high optical resolution should be selected. The higher the optical resolution, i.e. increasing the D:S ratio, the higher the cost of the pyrometer.
