What gear does the multimeter use to measure leakage

Leakage is because the insulation layer of the wire is damaged and there is an electrical connection between the electrical enclosure equipment, which causes the current in the wire to "leak" out. Cause leakage; there is an electrical connection between the housing of the household appliance and the live wire in the mains for some reason, so that there is a certain potential difference between the metal casing of the household appliance and the live wire. This phenomenon also becomes leakage. . The occurrence of electric leakage will cause great danger, and it is very easy to cause electric shock accidents for operators. In this regard, we will often use electric leakage protectors to protect the circuit.

What gear does the multimeter use to measure leakage

When the leakage accident occurs, how to check it? This is a question that many friends are concerned about. Let me talk about my views on this issue. For such a problem, the first thing we think of is to use a multimeter to detect whether there is a leakage fault in electrical equipment. I think the detection method is nothing more than There are two kinds, one is the resistance method; the other is the voltage method.

1. Resistance method to detect leakage fault

When the resistance method detects the leakage fault, first disconnect the power supply of the electrical equipment. We can use the RX10K position of the pointer multimeter. If it is a digital multimeter, it can be placed in the 200M position, and use a test lead of the multimeter to contact the circuit of the live wire (phase wire), Then use another test pen to touch the metal shell of the device. Under normal circumstances, the pointer of the multimeter should show an infinite resistance value. If the pointer is deflected at this time, it means that the insulation strength between the metal shell of the electrical device and the power supply is not enough, so It's just a power outage.

2. Voltage method to detect leakage fault

Whether there is leakage in the voltage detection equipment, we can use the 250V AC or AC 500V voltage range of the multimeter according to the voltage level. When measuring, use the two test pens of the multimeter to respectively contact the metal shell of the electrical equipment and the relevant phase or live wire. When the pointer indicates that the voltage is higher than 50, it can be considered as suspected of leakage. If the voltage is lower than 30V, it is normal. Of course, using a test pen, we also call it a low-voltage electroscope, which can also measure whether there is leakage in electrical equipment. an efficient method.

When measuring, we can use a jingle to remember the main points of measuring with a test pen, that is: the electric pen judges AC and DC, the AC is bright and DC is dark; the AC neon tube is bright, and the DC neon tube is bright at one end; Be careful when observing the neon tube; the bright front end is the negative electrode, and the bright rear end is the positive electrode. These words can not only determine whether the device is leaking, but also clearly know whether the voltage is DC voltage or AC voltage.
