What happens when the multimeter is not used for a long time and the battery cannot be used

There are generally two types of multimeters that we often use: the first type is a mechanical multimeter. The second is the electronic multimeter,

Both types of multimeters require batteries to power them. Generally, it is mostly 1.5V section 2 and 1 section 9V laminated battery.

If the multimeter is not used for a long time, it is best to put it in a dry and ventilated environment, and then turn off the power switch. It is best to take out both batteries. In order to prevent the electrolyte of the battery from being discharged for too long, it will corrode the contact pieces of the positive and negative poles of the meter power supply. In the light case, an oxide film will appear on the contact piece, which will affect the power supply contact. Use a knife or sandpaper to clean up the oxides on the corrosion layer, and replace the positive and negative plates if the positive and negative plates are completely corroded.

When the multimeter is not used for a long time, it is best to take the battery out and put it in a dry and ventilated place and pack it in a wooden box to avoid moisture.
