What is the difference between 5G communication base station electromagnetic radiation detection and 4G?

Different detection modes and equipment requirements
According to the "Method for Monitoring the Electromagnetic Radiation Environment of Mobile Communication Base Stations" (HJ 972-2018) implemented by 4G base stations, a non selective broadband electromagnetic radiation monitoring instrument can be used to detect the comprehensive field strength values at each point during testing; When it is necessary to understand the electromagnetic radiation contribution of each radiation source among multiple electromagnetic radiation sources or when the comprehensive field strength value exceeds the standard, a frequency selective electromagnetic radiation monitoring instrument can also be used to measure the emission frequency band corresponding to the radiation source. The requirements for the equipment are also non selective or selective.

Different detection and reading methods
When detecting electromagnetic radiation in 4G base stations, it is generally recommended to continuously detect each point 5 times, with each detection time not less than 15 seconds. But 5G base station electromagnetic radiation detection requires that each detection point must be continuously tested for no less than 6 minutes, and the average reading of the instrument should be taken.

There is a certain difference in the distribution of detection points
The layout of detection points for 4G and 5G base stations is generally the same, but there is a key difference. That is, the layout of detection points for 4G base stations requires that they be placed at representative environmentally sensitive targets in a cylindrical space with the ground projection of the base station antenna as the center and a radius of 50m as the base area. The 5G base station detection standard requires that the detection points should be prioritized to be located closest to the antenna for public residence, work, or study.

Different requirements for testing working conditions
Due to certain differences in the working mode between 5G base stations and 4G base stations, HJ 1151-2020 requires that when conducting electromagnetic radiation detection on 5G base stations, 5G terminal equipment must be used to establish and be in at least one typical application scenario with the detected base station (such as data transmission, video interaction, gaming and entertainment, virtual shopping, etc.). 4G base stations require them to be detected during normal working hours.
